As an information technology (IT) professional, you have a choice of earning two different credentials to highlight your Microsoft Windows® 2000 or Microsoft Windows® XP knowledge and expertise—Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE). Which certification is right for you and your job role?

Choose the MCSA credential if you:

  • Manage, support, and troubleshoot the ongoing needs of Microsoft Windows® server-based operating environments.
  • Have six to 12 months of experience managing and supporting a desktop server and network operations in an existing network infrastructure.

Job title examples include: systems administrator, network administrator, information systems administrator, network operations analyst, network technician, or technical support specialist.

Choose the MCSE credential if you:

  • Plan, design, and implement Microsoft Windows server solutions and architectures.
  • Have at least one year of experience analyzing business and technical requirements, and planning, designing, and implementing solutions with Microsoft products and technologies.

Job title examples include: systems engineer, network engineer, systems analyst, network analyst, or technical consultant.
